C# Developer- GUI – Banking – London
A specialist consultancy has an opportunity for a C#- GUI Developer to join a major bank. This is a technically and professionally challenging opportunity for a keen, analytical C# Developer to challenge their multi-threaded programming skills on a range of development tasks.
You will join a highly skilled team who are globally distributed and use agile Practices for the day to day work. All team members are passionate about technology: allowing new developers to grow both technical skills and financial knowledge. The GUI teams are responsible for the IT systems used by internal and external trading desks around the globe, allowing users to interact with manual and automated trading flow across the business. You will be developing C# GUI applications that are integral to the bank's main trading platform. This is a business-facing role and you'll speak with colleagues in IT and business users, to understand, specify and implement requirements for new features. You'll also provide second-level support to users and help to troubleshoot the applications as required.
They are looking for a talented C# developer with a solution driven approach and the intellect to grasp a range of concepts and new technologies pertaining to high performance trading systems.
You will have very strong C# coding skills and be keen to challenge yourself with complex message intensive, high volume systems architecture. Other essential skills include multi-threaded programming and SQL. Familiarity with Java and/or Linux is a bonus. You will also have excellent communication skills and some experience of working to an Agile methodology.

You will come from a technical application support background. Your technical background will be based towards Unix/Linux and you will possess shell scripting skills as well as good experience with SQL. Experience with the FIX protocol is advantageous.
You will be a keen team player who is willing to learn new technologies and build a solid understanding of the business context of the applications. The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a proven track record of building successful working relationships with managers and peers at all levels of an organisation. You will also have a solid degree.

- Development and build of new websites and portals using the Drupal CMS

- Own front end development projects and support Design resource

- Support, maintain and administer all existing websites, online accounts and booking system
- Work closely with the Ecommerce Manager/Head of Ecommerce to ensure web developments are delivered effectively and within timescales and budgets
- Deliver website optimisation projects through testing tools
- Extend and add functionality to the sites through new development and plug ins
- Use Drupal 7 to deliver device responsive sites
- Monitor all sites to ensure high site speed and optimised performance

- Work with the Port Solent Web Development team to deliver larger scale Drupal web projects
- Maintain a strong understanding of the Drupal CMS to ensure we maximise the capability of the system

- Implement tracking and analytics on the websites to ensure user activity can be analysed and monitored
- Understand the importance of accessibility, search engine optimisation and usability in web development

- Manage and use Linux, Apache and MySQL in conjunction with hosting suppliers

As a Business Design Analyst, you will support the Business Design Manager in the development and implementation of the Replacement Trading System across the Group. Assisting in the development of documentation, specification and build stage of the Replacement Trading System, your key activities will include;
• Facilitating and actively participating in workshops, with key stakeholders and external service providers covering the job holders allocated business areas and working towards the specification of the Replacement Trading System.
• Ensuring that the output of the workshops reflects the businesses future requirements.
• Working with both internal and external parties to ensure that specifications produced reflect workshop decisions and output.
• Assisting the change management processes and communication of the Replacement Trading System project across the brands.

To be successful, you will have commercial awareness and the knowledge of at least one business functional area. A high level of literacy will enable you to comprehend detailed documents and articulate complex topics. Some experience in project management or process modelling would be an advantage but not essential.
