The Company
Our client delivers customer and business intelligence solutions predominantly to the financial services sector. A vacancy has arisen for a Data Analyst within their IT Team. You will be responsible for the data analysis, design and implementation of their FastStats-based solutions, from pre-sales/prospect demonstrations through to post-sales support.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
• business analysis of clients’ data and systems requirements;
• implementation and support of business intelligence solutions;
• end-user training (internal and external);
• data analysis: segmentation, classification, trends;
• data quality monitoring for core databases and client implementations;
• identify, investigate and implement improved ways of presenting and selecting data for internal and external users;
• co-ordination and guidance for the Research Team.
Required Skills
• excellent data modelling ability;
• detailed knowledge of FastStats;
• solid SQL skills to allow the post-holder to investigate data issues and analyse data
• excellent knowledge of MS-Excel for analysis and presentation of data and statistics.
• sound business knowledge of the organisation and operation of the financial intermediary marketplace and/or fund management distribution value chain;
Desirable Skills
• experience of other business Intelligence/end-user reporting tools, e.g. Business Objects, Cognos, Crystal;
• experience of Oracle 10g PL/SQL.
The role will be based in our London Head Office, but there will be an occasional requirement to work in their Reading offices or at client sites around the country.

A major investment bank is seeking a support analyst with a strong focus on ownership of issues and commitment to resolving them. You will be working in European Cash Execution supporting the Bank’s bespoke Direct Execution trading applications. You will be responsible for the production stability of these applications and contribute to the ongoing process improvement efforts of the team to increase system availability and supportability over time. The role covers first and second line support throughout European trading hours, and at times outside of these hours (on a roster basis) to support system upgrades and other incidents that may require resolution before the market opens.
You will come from a technical application support background. Your technical background will be based towards Unix/Linux and you will possess shell scripting skills as well as good experience with SQL. Experience with the FIX protocol is advantageous.
You will be a keen team player who is willing to learn new technologies and build a solid understanding of the business context of the applications. The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a proven track record of building successful working relationships with managers and peers at all levels of an organisation. You will also have a solid degree.

Our company provides the software, technical support, consultancy and training to enable companies to deliver more confidence in investment plans.
Position: Graduate Data Analyst
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Salary: £18-24k per annum
ROLE:
They are looking for a highly motivated Graduate Data Analyst with at least 6 months commercial experience to join their expanding consultancy team. Primarily working within the water/sewerage industry and other utilities, the consultancy team collects, processes and interprets corporate data to produce long term strategic investment plans for companies to improve management of their assets. This is achieved using their bespoke analytics software.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) The Graduate Data Analyst is expected to be able to autonomously collect and repopulate data; analyse the data to provide regression style relationships and assess their confidence; populate and configure the analytics software in order to produce an optimised strategic plan and disseminate results via client workshops and reports.
b) Ensure that auditability and quality assurance are maintained.
c) To think independently and creatively such that results from analyses are questioned enabling conclusions and recommendations to be confirmed.
d) Working individually to deliver specific performance models and as part of a team to deliver the project as a whole.
e) To adhere to project milestones agreed with the Project Manager and raise any risks or issues that may impact these milestones as early as possible.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) Educated to a degree level in a Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or other financial/numeric field with a minimum 2:1 achieved.
b) Exceptional skills in data collection and interpretation,
c) Extensive use of MS Access or SQL to collate data and perform complex queries, and extensive use of MS Excel or other statistical packages to process data.
d) Proven ability in presenting methodologies and results to all levels in a business environment.
e) Investigate trends within the data and present results.
f) Flexible approach and ability to multitask.
g) Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organisational skills.
h) Accurate in attention to detail.
DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) Significant Mathematics, Statistics and/or Operational Research content to first degree.
b) Water/ sewerage industry knowledge.
c) Awareness of PAS55/ISO55001 accreditation.
d) MapInfo or similar GIS knowledge.
e) SPSS, R, Matlab or SASS experience advantageous.
f) Client liaison experience.
g) Ability to understand models and optimisation beneficial.

- Implement tracking and analytics on the websites to ensure user activity can be analysed and monitored
- Understand the importance of accessibility, search engine optimisation and usability in web development
- Monitor competitor and other websites and suggest initiatives accordingly
- Ensure all coding adheres to web standards
- Manage and use Linux, Apache and MySQL in conjunction with hosting suppliers
- Ensure all work is well documented
- Use revision control systems (GitHub) to ensure all work is tracked
