Dowding and Mills' was established in 1910 in a small workshop in the Camp Hill area of Birmingham and has grown to become the largest independent electro-mechanical engineering business in the UK with subsidiaries in the USA, Australia and the Middle East with an annual turnover exceeding £100m.
The Company is going through a period of sustained growth and currently employs over 1500 people worldwide.
Principally, we are engaged in the re-design, inspection, maintenance and repair of generators, motors and ancillary equipment. These items can be any size up to 300MW, any weight up to 120t, and from anywhere in the world.

Graduate Development Programme
Successful applicants for the Graduate Development Programme will receive exposure and training to every aspect of the range of services that we provide and additionally gain valuable experience and knowledge in a wide range of disciplines: engineering, machine re-design, HV coil manufacture, HV insulation, condition monitoring, quality assurance & health and safety,.
As a minimum we are looking for graduates with a 2.1 in electrical engineering and the equivalent of at least a grade B in Mathematics and English at GCSE.
Previous experience of working in an electro-mechanical environment would be an advantage, particularly if this included high voltage, coils or insulation.
The graduates we are looking for will be committed, flexible, determined and ambitious and will be able to travel within the UK and/or overseas.
